Aries is the sign of the ram.
It spans the period from approximately
March 21st to
April 20th each year
(dates may vary slightly between years) -
although we normally tend to think of the year as
beginning on
January 1st,
in fact, the astrological year begins on
March 21st
(the Spring date when the duration of the day and night are equal), so,
as a result Aries is the first zodiac sign in the astrological year.
Aries is associated with the traditional element of Fire, and
is classified by astrologers as having positive polarity.
The characteristic traits for which Aries people are known, including being
adventurous, dynamic, energetic, enthusiastic, passionate and quick-witted.
Aries people are usually forthright and self-confident,
and some cases too much so.
These attributes often allow Aries people to be
the daredevils, entrepreneurs, natural leaders and pioneers of our world.
Arians often find success as a business or political leader, as a doctors,
or as athletes.
While adventurism and self-confidence can be often be positive
attributes, if taken to excess, they can become a dangerous combination.
Failure to control impulsive tendencies, can lead to foolhardy and wreckless
behavior. Additionally, many Arians are very good at starting new things and exploiting
new opportunities, but not nearly so good at the detailed work involved
in completing projects.
Furthermore, too much self-confidence may not always come
across well with others. Aries people would be wise to consider how others
might see them. Acting impatiently with other people, or behaving in a quick-tempered or
selfish manner, are common self-imposed obstacles that can impede Arians
in achieving their goals.
As with all other star signs,
people born under Aries have a mix of positive and negative traits.
The most successful Arians tend to find ways to exploit their positive traits,
and have enough self-awareness to know what their negative traits are,
and keep them under control. One common method that many Arians use
to compensate for their own weaknesses is to find somebody to work with, who
can assist them in those areas in which they are not so strong,
such as following-up or completing projects, or attention to detai.
As far as personal relations is concerned,
a key thing to remember for Arians is that there is a risk that
they may drive away friends or lovers by acting selfishly, or simply
because of their intensity. Once again, self-awareness is critical,
and Arians would do well to be aware of these risks. Choice of partners
is also important - Arian people
tend to be most compatible
with those who can stand-up to them.
- According to most astrologers, Aries tends to be most compatible
with people born under other fire signs, namely
Leo and Sagittarius.
You might expect that an Aries might like another Aries as a partner,
and while sometimes this combination can work very well, is also
the case, that Aries versus Aries clashes can get out hand - thus
Aries can be one of the most, and least,
compatible signs for
other Aries.
- Cancer and Capricorn are usually
ranked as among the least compatible signs for Aries.
In particular, Aries people tend to find Cancer's tendencies towards
procrastination to be particularly frustrating. Some astrologers
also rank Libra as likely to be incompatible with Aries,
but others tend to emphasize the fact that Aries and Libra both share positive polarity.
